Ben Atkinson is a writer, presenter and designer. He lives in the beautiful cathedral city of Lincoln.
He has a broad range of experience and interests which stretch across the creative industries, from broadcasting to writing, design and development. Ben is the author of two novels, the presenter of a syndicated country music programme which airs on stations across the UK, and an established web developer and graphic designer, with a number of national and international websites, branding projects and mobile apps to his name.
Ben holds two degrees in media from the University of Lincoln, a First Class BA(Hons) degree in Media Production (2013) and an MA Degree in Digital Media (2015). He was previously awarded by the institution for Outstanding Contribution to the Lincoln School of Film and Media (2013) and as Intern of the Year (2014) for his creative design work in the year that followed his undergraduate graduation.
Currently, Ben works at the University of Lincoln, supporting the adoption of digital technologies for teaching and learning in the College of Arts. In 2018 he became a fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) and in 2019 graduated with a PGCHE in teaching from Falmouth University.
Ben’s training and experience within the creative industries is widespread and includes being an alumnus of the prestigious BBC Production Talent Pool, a six-month sabbatical studying and teaching at the Minnesota State University Moorhead in the USA, founding and managing Lincoln’s first student radio station, Brayford Radio, and several years at the helm of his own design company, Tall Lime.
In his spare time, Ben enjoys playing the guitar and can often be found reading, or binging on documentaries (American history and travel are his favourites). He loves cycling, regularly takes to the stage in amateur theatre and is currently attempting to learn Spanish… Las lecciones están yendo bien!
